Welcome, little one.

It's true, she's finally here.

Charlotte Lydia Smucker was born at 6:03 pm Monday, June 18, 2012.

Quick list of facts:
  • She measured 20" and weighed 6 lbs, 12 oz.  Tiny thing for being one week overdue!
  • She looks JUST like her daddy.
  • She doesn't have red hair.  Sorry for the confusion about that.  It's light brown, and has just a TEENY reddish hint.
  • Her eyelashes and eyebrows are so blonde they're almost invisible.  My guess is that she will eventually be a strawberry blonde.
  • She has long, slender Graber hands and feet.
  • She has the most perfect little rosebud mouth.
  • She has a much heartier, stronger cry than Jocelyn did as a baby.  I have a feeling she will be a little more assertive.:)
  • She is an excellent nurser.
  • She has already smiled at me for real, I am sure of it.
  • She is so strong for having such skinny limbs.
  • She absolutely loves a pacifier! Jocelyn never took one.
So quickly they steal pieces of your heart until you can't even imagine life without them.  I am finding myself marveling constantly at how incredibly tiny she is!  Just the teeniest thing.   It wasn't that long ago that I had a baby, but I so soon forget how little they start out.  Jocelyn of course seemed to grow much older overnight after baby sister made her arrival.  It made me sad at first, but I know that it truly didn't actually make her grow any faster, and now they will just get to grow up together, and that's special. I know they're going to just have so much fun doing that.

Truly, I will post more about the birth later.  The whole birth story, as I love re-telling those things, and more pictures and details about our little bundle.  But for now, I am off to bed to squeeze in some precious hours of sleep before the next feeding.

I can't thank you enough if you prayed for us.  I honestly felt those prayers during and after labor.  Thanks too, if you visited or dropped by with a gift, etc.  We have felt surrounded by love and support lately, (as all who have a new baby should) and it just starts everything off on such a good foot.  Speaking of starting off on a good foot, I may be appearing a little less on this blog in the future.  I am in the process of re-examining my life.  Priorities, time management, or lack thereof, things that matter vs. things that don't, etc.  A new baby has a way of making you do that.  It's such a rejuvenating feeling.  Like wiping the slate clean.  Really, I guess we should be able to do that at any time, but an addition to your life/family just seems to give you the extra motivation. So, with that said, we shall see where that leads.

Goodnight world.
