I'm in a strange "frame of mind" at the moment. Oh great...didn't see this coming, but now that I named my blog that, it's going to seem cheesy every time I use that phrase. Well, I guess you'll have to deal with it, because I can't think of an alternative phrase to use.
So, about my strange frame of mind. It's that one that feels like you could disappear off the face of the earth and no one would notice but your husband. It's just that way. Like everyone is sort of milling around you, doing their own thing, completely impervious to you or your existence.
And here's the dilemma...if you talk about it, you're an Eeyore. If you write about it, you're depressing. So, surprising though it may be, I'm sure many others occasionally find themselves feeling these feelings, but wanting to be the peppy, optimistic, pleasant person,(that we all secretly want to be) they stuff it all down and don't talk about it. Moving on...

I am terribly excited about traveling home for my brother's graduation. I was able to go home around Christmas, but somehow May still feels like a very, long ways away from our last trip home. I miss everyone. I miss Mom & Dad's house. I miss Grandma & Grandpa. I think Randy and I will have to take a walk up the gravel road and swing on their swing, for old time's sake. Or just meander through the woods holding hands. Or play a board game with my little siblings. Doesn't really matter what we end up doing, it will be lovely. Because I will be home.

O.k. so these pictures are not very recent, but I never posted pictures of Barney's birthday party, and we went to this sweet Greek restaurant where they made you dance in circles with your arms around your friends and encouraged you to throw dishes into the air yelling "OH-pa!" and other fun things.

And then there was the sweetheart dinner that I helped decorate for:

Our friends Brandon & Cindy

I think that's enough for now. Hope you all had a lovely Monday, until next time....

  3. Hi Shelley,
I found your blog- how wonderfully awesome. Hope you don't mind if I read and subscribe. Love your writing!
I could have easily written the first paragraph. I have had those feelings way too many times. Just so you know though, you would be missed by more than just your husband! Maybe it's worse for those of us who have moved far away from home and all that is dear and comfortable to us. New communities can be cruel without ever intending to be.
I'm happy for you that you can go to Iowa soon! You are so right, it doesn't matter what you do, it WILL be lovely because it's home. We're going to Ohio in June and I can't wait.
    Have a wonderful evening!
I might see you tomorrow because I'm switching jobs with Leanne for the day. She offered to babysit and I'm working. :) I like that deal.
I'm embarrassed about this long comment. Excuse me, please.
